Hilton and Hilton Malta have taken one step further towards becoming a more responsible corporation to add to its list of initiatives in favour of the environment.
Since January last year, Hilton Malta has fully participated in the Hilton International environmental initiative We Care campaign. The aim is to focus on environmental issues and resource efficiency with a target of five per cent reduction on our utility cost for 2006.
This experience was also shared with the Rural Affairs and Environment Ministry and their Green Leaders, who were shown a number of initiatives that Hilton Malta embarked upon towards more sustainable and cost-saving projects. Mainly, these were two new Reverse Osmosis units which fully supply the hotel’s fresh water needs, the conversion from diesel to gas burners for our hot water system, and the waste water treatment for the irrigation system. These projects also helps us in achieving the EU Eco-Label award by the Malta Standards Authority, which makes Hilton Malta the first Hotel on the island to be recognised with this prestigious award.
To celebrate these successes, Hilton Malta contributed a further 100 trees for the 34U campaign which were planted at Salina Stipule last December.
