Malta Independent Saturday, 13 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A man was remanded in custody yesterday after pleading not guilty to stealing Lm170 in cash, loitering for the purposes of prostitution and committing immoral acts in public.

Richard Spiteri, 35, from Valletta, who said he is unemployed, was also charged with allowing a man to drive a car when he knew that this person did not have a driving licence, breaching court orders and relapsing.

Before magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, Mr Spiteri denied the charges brought against him. The magistrate turned down his request for bail and he was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Raymond Cassar prosecuted while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
