Jason Sherri has recently released his CD debut album entitled So Complete. This mini-album has seven tracks, written and performed by Jason, and was recorded in Düsseldorf, Germany late last year by three different producers.
Jason’s music is very warm, full of rhythm and soul. Like its title, the So Complete album is a mixture of styles from dance/electronica, jazz/rock ballads, Latin hip hop and new reggae, showing Jason’s versatility not only musically but also vocally. He sings about his own life experiences through catchy tunes to which everyone, no matter what age, can relate.
His passion for singing and English literature began at a very early age, but it all came together when he started playing the piano at the age of 13. Later on he also taught himself guitar. He wrote three songs for his sister Debbie Scerri’s debut album Having You: the album title – a duet featuring himself – and another song in Maltese. Late last year, he also wrote a song called Bla Ma Nwettaq Xejn that was sung by Debbie in the Malta International TV Songwriting Competition. An English version of this song, called I Believed In You, can be found in the So Complete album, sung by Jason.
In 1997, he decided to concentrate more on musical theatre and enrolled in a three year diploma course in Performing Arts at the Millennium Dance 2000 Theatre College in London, where he studied singing, dancing and acting. This opened several doors in the dance and musical theatre business, from which he has been benefiting ever since. Some examples include My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Miami Nights, Cats and We will Rock You musicals in Germany, giving him the chance to work with Christine Cartwright – London West End Cats director, Brian May – lead guitarist of the band Queen and Ben Elton – English author and London West End director. Jason is also featured in a dance routine in the internationally successful film Boat Trip starring Cuba Gooding Junior.
Jason’s live performances, as well as his vast repertoire of cover versions, have touched audiences, not only in Malta but also in London and Germany, where he is now based. He believes in teamwork and openness to new ideas. He is a promising artist – constantly working on new material and new ways of bringing out the best in himself.
Music is definitely the love of his life and he wants to express himself and send out a positive message through his songwriting and live performances, wherever they may be. To have a listen to his music, visit www.myspace.com/jasonsherri
