The German minister for the environment, Sigmar Gabriel, will be visiting Malta in March at the invitation of his Maltese counterpart George Pullicino, the government has announced.

The priorities of the German presidency of the EU regarding the environment have been discussed in meetings held in Malta between a high level representative of the German government, Dr Karsten Sach, and representatives of the Maltese government.

The talks focused mainly on climate change, waste management and the programme Life +.
