Green Government

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Following the launch of government’s Green Office Label – a certification scheme for government entities that run their offices according to environmental best practices – green leaders from seven ministries planted 400 trees at Salini National Park as part of the 34U campaign .

The concept of the Green Office Label centres on a list of 100 environmental best practices, or criteria, related to the office environment. The list is made up of six different areas that include environmental planning, waste reduction, energy conservation, water conservation, transport and green public procurement.

The Green Label certification is another initiative by the government to lead by example and promote an attitude and office behaviour that are sustainable for the environment.
