The police had to fire a number of warning shots yesterday afternoon when they foiled a burglary from a house in Naxxar.

Sources said the robbery was taking place in a house in St George’s Road in Naxxar at around 3.30pm. Police on patrol managed to foil the robbery when they caught the robbers read-handed. Warning shots were fired and after a long chase through Iklin valley, the police managed to apprehend the two robbers.

A car which was suspected to have been used by the robbers was impounded by the police who are continuing their investigations.

The robbers are expected to be charged in court in the coming days.
