Court: Conditional Discharge for attempted theft

Malta Independent Thursday, 18 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A man was conditionally discharged for two years after he admitted attempting to steal a car from Gzira.

Robert Zahra, 43, from Ghaxaq, pleaded guilty to trying to steal a Mazda from Triq l-Imperu on 20 August last year at around 4pm, to the detriment of Emmanuel Debono from San Gwann.

Zahra also admitted having attempted to steal the car, but not being successful due to circumstances beyond his control.

Joseph Grech, 43, from Qawra is also facing criminal proceedings for involvement in the case, but he does not admit the charges against him, so his case is continuing. He is also being charged with relapsing.

Police inspector Malcolm Spiteri prosecuted.

Dr Franco Debono appeared for the accused.
