Maltese Green MP in the Italian Parliament, Arnold Cassola, will be one of the MPs participating in a bilateral meeting between the Italian Parliament European Affairs Committee (of which he is a member) and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Maltese Parliament, led by Jason Azzopardi, on 23 January.
The Maltese Parliamentary committee will also have a meeting with Italian Justice Minister Clemente Mastella.
Commenting on the meeting, Prof. Cassola said: “This will be a good occasion for Maltese and Italian politicians to debate issues of common interest, especially with regard to EU matters.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Cassola has met the new Czech Deputy Prime Minister Martin Bursik in Berlin, on the margins of a conference on The Future of Europe. Mr Bursik, who is also the new Czech Environment Minister, is President of the Czech Green Party and an old acquaintance of Arnold Cassola.
Deputy Prime Minister Bursik and Prof. Cassola discussed topics of common interest, such as the impending threat of global warming and climate change to the daily lives of people and to the tourist economy, in particular in Mediterranean countries such as Malta and Italy.
Prof. Cassola will be visiting Prague in March.
