Gzira-Zurrieq 1-2
Robert Bajada scored Zurrieq’s decisive goal as they beat Gzira United in a difficult match with Zurrieq creating the better goal scoring opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. Zurrieq broke the deadlock through a lob by Matthew Genuis.
Gzira equalised on 37 minutes through Warren Caruana. Just before the break Zurrieq were close Genuis.
Early on in the second period Zurrieq went close through Matthew Genuis and Joe Lia but they took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute through Robert Bajada. Gzira replied through an Owen Spiteri shot which just missed the target and a long range lob by Nico Corito which was saved with difficulty by Azzopardi.

Sirens-Attard 2-0
Sirens notched their eighth win from nine matches in a game which they dominated during the second half as Attard had to play with ten players following the sending off of Luke Borg.
Attard’s goalkeeper Owen Formosa came to his side’s rescue as he brought off difficult saves to deny Ryan Theuma, Ramon Farrugia and Kenneth Zammit.
On the stroke of half-time Attard’s defender Luke Borg retaliated and was sent off and this incident had a negative effect on Attard as in the opening 16 minutes of the second half, they conceded two goals scored by Sirens’ twin strikers Ryan Theuma and Adrian Galea.
Late in the match Sirens were also unlucky to hit the post through Gareth Magri.

Ta’ Xbiex-Gharghur 1-7
As expected, Gharghur found no problems whatsoever in defeating Ta’ Xbiex with the league’s top-scorer Lawrence Vella notching six of the goals. Gharghur took a deserved lead on 14 minutes through Lawrence Vella and the same player added two further goals in the 21st and 40th minute to notch his hat-trick and make it 3-0 at the end of the first period.
The second period was a mere formality with Gharghur scoring a fourth goal on the hour through Matthew Coleiro and this coincided with the sending off of Ta’ Xbiex defender Charles Agius for a gesture made to Gharghur’s supporters.
Gharghur added three further goals through Lawrence Vella in the 81st, 83rd and 87th minute as Glen Azzopardi pulled back a goal through Glen Azzopardi four minutes from time.

Qrendi-Ghaxaq 4-0
Mario Mifsud’s team Qrendi, obtained an easy win against Ghaxaq to stay in touch with leaders Sirens whom they trail by five points.
Qrendi broke the deadlock in the 28th minute through Karl Vella Petroni. Four minutes later Ghaxaq’s keeper Celeste was at fault when he was again beaten by Vella Petroni’s corner-kick and a minute before the change of ends Josef Mansueto made it 3-0 from a direct free-kick.
Qrendi’s fourth and final goal was scored in the 64th minute through Kevin Naudi.

Mgarr-Siggiewi 4-2
Goals scored by David Muscat, Steve Aquilina and two by Chris Abela were enough for Mgarr as they gained another important win to stay within reach of leaders Sirens whom they trail by just four points.
Mgarr United showed the better football in the initial stages and after twice going close through Daniel Schembri and Chris Gauci, they deservedly broke the deadlock on 17 minutes with David Muscat beating Fulvio Azzopardi with a low shot.
Siggiewi came back strongly and made it one-all through Josef Micallef from a well-taken free-kick but eight minutes before the break Mgarr made it 2-1 through Steve Aquilina who dribbled his way past Azzopardi before shooting the ball into an empty net. After the change of ends Mgarr dictated the run of play with Chris Abela scoring twice in the 68th and 76th minute to make it 4-1.
Siggiewi scored a consolation goal three minutes into injury-time through Eman Ciappara

Pembroke-Xghajra 2-2
This was a balanced match with Pembroke showing the better football during the first period and with Xghajra coming back strongly after the break to recover a two-goal deficit..
Pembroke shared the exchanges and they broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute through Jeffrey Fenech. Xghajra reacted and created a number of opportunities but in a swift counter-attack in the 45th minute Pembroke added a second goal through Carlo Leonardi.
Early on in the second period Pembroke’s keeper Debattista fouled Alex Azzopardi with Xghajra gaining a penalty which was converted by Lizio Grech.
The same player had another goal disallowed for an offside infringement while at the other end Pembroke were denied by the post off a Leonardi effort. Four minutes from time Xghajra managed to score a deserved equaliser through Lizio Grech.
