A number of doctors and dentists who appeared on the TV programme Arani Issa screened on TVM every Monday, are being investigated by the Medical Council.

The council said in a statement yesterday that the investigation was opened because it is being alleged that the programme is of a commercial and sensational nature and therefore the presence of doctors/dentists on the programme allegedly breaches professional ethics. It said this was being done in line with articles 31 and 32 of the Health Professionals Act (Ch. 464) and Medical Council Regulations on the procedure to strike names off the medical register (L.S. 458.08) where applicable.
