Officers of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority sealed the illegal use of premises at 9, Forrest Street, St Julian’s. The premises were being used illegally as a launderette.

Enforcement notice ECF 49/07 was delivered by hand to the person responsible for the operation. According to law, an enforcement notice obliges the contravener to revert the site to its former state, in this case a residential dwelling.

For this reason, Mepa sealed off the power circuit of the main switchboard and the switchboard cover itself. In this way, the launderette was rendered inoperative. A warning was also issued not to tamper with seals, unless in an emergency, as this would trigger more drastic measures.

The person responsible undertook to revert the premises to a residential dwelling, by Friday.
