To mark the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli boys’ lyceum, a musico-literary evening was organised yesterday.

The lyceum, in Qormi, was opened in 1981 by Labour Minister Philip Muscat, in what was formerly the Royal Naval School and previously barracks for British soldiers. In fact, the school comprises a number of Nissan huts and other buildings.

A new school building is currently being built to house around 900 students and 95 teachers.

Education Minister Louis Galea paid honour to the founders of the school, heads, teachers and employees who have worked at the lyceum over the past 25 years and their contribution to children’s education and Maltese society.

He spoke about the new premises being built and that upon completion, it will have the resources needed to continue its sterling work.
