Hilton and Hilton Malta have taken one more step towards becoming a more responsible corporation by adding the environment to its list of initiatives.

Hilton Malta has fully participated in the Hilton International environmental initiative “we care” campaign since January 2006. The aim was to focus on environmental issues and resource efficiency with a target of five per cent reduction on utility costs for 2006.

This experience was also shared with the Ministry of the Environment and Rural affairs and their Green leaders, who were shown a number of sustainable and cost saving projects Hilton Malta had embarked on. Mainly, these were two new Reverse Osmosis units which supply all the hotel’s fresh water, the conversion from diesel to gas for the hot water system, and the waste water treatment for the irrigation system.

These projects also helped achieve the EU Eco-Label award by the Malta Standards Authority, which makes Hilton Malta the first hotel on the island to be presented with this prestigious award.

To celebrate these successes, Hilton Malta contributed a further 100 trees to the 34U campaign which where planted at Salina Stipule last December.
