The next tour in the series of Cultural Tours on Sunday will explore traditional Maltese trades that will take participants to the very heart of Maltese history and culture. The tour will look at the production of honey in Malta. Honey has been a traditional product of Malta since Roman times during which the islands were used as a hub for honey and olive oil exports. The participants will also see the process of crushing for fruit wines, which will be available for tasting.

The tour includes a close look at one of the well-known traditional Maltese crafts – the making of filigree; participants will see how the twisted silver threads are made into filigree.

In addition, the traditional textile trade, and the equipment that was and is still used in the production of textiles, will be explored. There will also be a visit to Fort St Lucian, which is currently a research centre for fish and aquaculture.

Transport leaves Floriana (next to the Independence Monument) and Sliema (opposite the Nazarene Church) at 8.45am. Tickets cost Lm4.50 for adults and Lm3.50 for senior citizens and children.
