A concert of lively, modern music by the Sliema Youth Big Band of the Società Filarmonica “Sliema” conducted by Mro Sigmund Mifsud, will be held on Sunday 28 January at 7.30pm in the Sir Temi Zammit Auditorium at the university.
Special guest singers include Claudia Faniello with Madonna’s You’ll See; Ludwig Galea singing Angel by Robbie Williams and a special interpretation of Modugno’s evergreen song Volare; Daniel Cauchi, a leading singer and drummer with the Big Band Brothers will interpret Robbie Williams’ song Feel; Louisa Wirth and Petra Micallef, soloists from the Voices group, will perform popular selections from The Lion King, Ain’t No Mountain too High and Beauty and the Beast, and Lello Ebejer, also from Voices, will interpret Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke.
The Sliema Youth Ensemble under Mro Sigmund Mifsud’s distinct direction style, who also conducted “The National Orchestra Goes Pop”, will perform In the Mood by Glenn Miller; the Beatles’ Lady Madonna; Minnie the Moocher of the Blues Brothers; California Girls of the Beach Boys and James Brown’s Papa's got a Brand New Bag and Feel Good; soundtracks from The Incredibles by Michael Giacchino and Mission Impossible by Lalo Schifren; One Day I’ll fly away from Moulin Rouge and Steve Wonder’s Superstition.
The concert will be presented by well-known media and show business personalities Xandru Grech and Moira Delia.
