President Edward Fenech Adami yesterday concluded his official visit to Lija with a morning of activities that took him to a band club, a social club and the football nursery, among others.
Mrs Fenech Adami accompanied the President in various activities but also followed a programme of events scheduled solely for her.
The President’s day started off with a visit to the Salvatur chapel, where he was given a brief historical background by Fr Joseph Fenech. President and Mrs Fenech Adami later attended Mass at Our Saviour parish church and afterwards met residents on the church parvis.
President Fenech Adami later also visited the Pope Pius X band club, and afterwards met Anthony Muscat who specialises in making pasturi (crib figurines).
He also met officials of the St Andrew Social Club, visited the Lija Belveder and attended a training session at the Lija Football Nursery.
For her part, Mrs Fenech Adami visited the St Peter’s Home, run by Dominican Sisters, and the Ursoline Sisters Convent.
The visit was brought to an end with a meeting with the Lija mayor Ian Castaldi Paris and councillors at the local council’s offices in Robert Mifsud Bonnici Street.
