A concert of lively and modern music by the Sliema Youth Big Band of the Società Filarmonica Sliema, conducted by Mro Sigmund Mifsud, will be held on Sunday at 7.30pm at the Sir Temi Zammit Auditorium of the University, Msida.
Special guest singers will be Claudia Faniello interpreting popular singer Madonna’s You’ll See; Ludwig Galea singing Angel by Robbie Williams and a special interpretation of Domenico Modugno’s landmark song Volare; Daniel Cauchi, a leading singer and drummer with the Big Band Brothers interpreting Robbie Williams’ song Feel; Louisa Wirth and Petra Micallef, soloists from Voices group, will perform popular selections from The Lion King, Ain’t No Mountain too High and Beauty and the Beast; while Lello Ebejer as well from Voices will interpret Sir Duke of Stevie Wonder.
The Sliema Youth Ensemble, with its distinct direction style by Mro Sigmund Mifsud, just fresh from conducting the National Orchestra Goes Pop, will also perform In the Mood by Glenn Miller; Lady Madonna of the Beatles; Minnie the Moocher of the Blues Brothers; California Girls of the Beach Boys; Papa’s got a Brand New Bag and Feel Good of James Brown; soundtracks from The Incredibles by Michael Giacchino and Mission Impossible by Lalo Schifren; and One Day I’ll fly away from Moulin Rouge and Steve Wonder’s Superstition.
The concert will be presented by well-known media and showbusiness personalties Xandru Grech and Moira Delia.
