A teenager and a man who were involved in two separate traffic accidents on Friday are still in critical condition, while another motorist involved in one of the accidents is stable, although he is still at risk of losing his life, the police said in a statement yesterday.
The teenager is a 17-year-old from Birkirkara who was involved in a collision with a van while he was riding a bicycle. The van was being driven by a 46-year-old man, also from Birkirkara. The accident took place in Triq il-Knisja l-Qadima in Birkirkara at around 4.45pm.
The other accident took place in Ghajn Dwieli Road in Paola and involved two motorists driving a Hyundai Pony and a Ford Escort, as well as two female passengers.
The two drivers had to be freed from the wreckage of their cars following a head-on collision. The driver of the Hyundai is still critical, while the man who was driving the Ford is stable, said the police statement.
