The Labour Party’s constant attack against the National Statistics Office (NSO) is dangerous and irresponsible and can cause great damage especially since Malta will convert to the euro next year, said MEP Simon Busuttil.

Dr Busuttil was speaking at a public activity organised at Safi on Sunday.

The Labour Party’s intention in minimising the NSO’s credibility is to cause problems for the government when Malta is in its final stage towards the euro changeover.

This is a clear indication that the Labour Party only has the party’s interest at heart, said Dr Busuttil.

However, he added, the Labour party is mistaken if it believes that everyone is of the same opinion.

“The fact that Malta will start using the euro is a confirmation in itself that its economy has grown,” said Dr Busuttil.
