The Malta Institute for Computer Sciences (MICS) in San Gwann has become the first institute in Malta to offer BCS (British Computer Society) Professional Examinations. The institute has been approved as a BCS course provider signing up to a code of practice which ensures that students studying for the internationally recognised exams will receive quality tuition in accordance with BCS standards and guidelines.

MICS will offer full and part-time courses covering the three levels of BCS Professional Examinations from February 2007. The exams are awarded by the BCS; the only chartered Engineering Institution for IT professionals which can award an internationally recognised professional qualification.

At their highest level, the examinations are examined to the academic level of a UK University Honours degree and acknowledge practical experience and academic ability.

Robert Mifsud, MICS director of operations said: “MICS is proud to bring the range of professional examinations by BCS to Malta. The modular structure and direct credit replacement for these qualifications from other qualifications already available locally will make them very interesting for students who already started their IT graduate study path at other institutions but would like to switch to a different path for whichever reason.”
