A 37-year-old Macedonian national who identified herself as an EU Commissioner with a number of people for financial gain, was yesterday given a one-year jail term suspended for two.
Appearing before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, Berta Sanders-Korunovska admitted she deceived Anatole Baldacchino and other people into believing she was someone else and making gain out of the fictitious identity she created.
She was also charged with forging documents and making use of them for the purposes of the offence and with having issued a false declaration for the purposes of her offence.
Police Inspector Kevin Borg prosecuted. Dr Anthony Cutajar appeared for the accused.
