Following its announcement of participation in the National Euro Changeover Committee’s FAIR initiative, Vodafone Malta Limited has now launched the SMS euro calculator in collaboration with the NECC.

Vodafone subscribers may send an SMS to 154 with the amount for conversion. For example, if one sends an SMS with Lm1.54, in return, the subscriber will immediately receive an SMS with the euro equivalent – e3.59. The service is available to all Vodafone Subscribers at a standard rate of Lm0.01c per SMS.

Vodafone’s project manager for the Euro Conversion, Michael Coney said that, “The simplicity and mobility of this service will assist consumers in gaining confidence in the changeover process by allowing access to a responsive and accurate service that is in line with the NECC Dual Display guidelines.”

The service is part of Vodafone’s ongoing support to the FAIR initiative, aiming to ensure that the pricing process remains entirely fair throughout the euro changeover period and to keep all customers assured that dual display of the euro is in accordance to the NECC guidelines.

Ninety per cent of Maltese citizens think that dual display is essential during the euro changeover process.
