Chev. Joseph Sammut on Monday donated several artefacts which had been part of the private collection of his uncle, the late John Sammut, to the Archaeology Museum.
The donated artefacts include a slab inscribed in a Semitic language, a bronze seal with Arabic inscriptions, Egyptian bronze statuettes, jewellery, a Bronze Age jug and a prehistoric ceramic spoon.
Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech accepted the artefacts on behalf of Heritage Malta. He said the donation constitutes a very important increase in the museum’s collection.
He thanked Chev. Sammut for the donation and for his strong civic spirit, which inspired him to donate such a unique collection to the whole nation.
