Malta Independent Wednesday, 24 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Maltacom Group is the main sponsor of the Malta Song for Europe Festival 2007 to be held on 3 February. As a result, Maltacom's mobile arm, Go mobile, will benefit from the title sponsorship and the festival will be known once again as the go mobile Malta Song for Europe Festival.

This year's edition of the festival is going through a number of exciting changes primarily the change of venue to the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre in Ta' Qali. These changes, particularly the choice of venue, aim at stepping up the event's standard even further. In fact, the final night will feature a performance of popular international singer Ruslana, as well as last year's winner Fabrizio Faniello.

"We are proud to be part of such a prestigious event particularly in terms of the popularity it has always enjoyed. The go mobile Malta Song for Europe festival scores high on the list of Malta's popular cultural experiences and it has always provided a unique platform to promote Malta's musical talent abroad," said Maltacom's chief executive officer David Kay.

"By giving our full support to the initiative, the Maltacom Group plays an active role in helping to encourage and develop local talent," he added.

Go mobile has been sponsoring the festival for several years, and last year the company stepped up its commitment, becoming the major sponsor of this event.

An high percentage of the public is expected to follow the go mobile Malta Song for Europe festival which will be screened live on TVM on 1 and 3 February. The semi-final on the first date will decide which songs will make it to the final night.

Since the winning song on the final night will be determined by the public through televoting, the Maltacom Group contributes strongly towards the technical success of the event.
