Archbishop-elect Mgr Paul Cremona will be meeting various communities this afternoon on his way from Sliema to Mdina, where a prayer vigil will be held on the eve of his ordination as Malta’s Archbishop.

Mgr Cremona, who will today be celebrating his 61st birthday, will emerge from the Jesus of Nazareth church in Sliema at 4.30pm and, escorted by the police, will be meeting the Gzira community near Manoel Island at 4.37pm, the Ta’ Xbiex residents at the end of Temi Zammit Avenue at 4.44pm, and the Msida community in front of the parish church at 4.51pm.

Mgr Cremona will go on to meet the Guardamangia community at 4.59pm in front of PBS, the Hamrun residents in two places – in Joe Sciberras Street at 5.05pm and in front of the St Cajetan parish church at 5.13pm, and the Santa Venera community in front of the parish church at 5.19pm.

His last stops will be in Fleur-de-Lys, at the roundabout in Notabile Street at 5.25pm, Attard in Karm Debono Square at 5.39pm and in Rabat at Saqqajja at 5.52pm.

He will be met by the Mdina mayor at 6pm and will proceed towards the Cathedral where the vigil will be held.

Tonight, the ring, the mitre and the pastoral staff that Mgr Cremona will be using will be blessed by outgoing Archbishop Mgr Joseph Mercieca.
