Seven people were yesterday fined a total of Lm1,600 after pleading guilty to failing to supply customers with Value Added Tax fiscal receipts.

Carmelo Abdilla, 53, from Qormi and Philip Abela, 60, from Zebbug were each fined Lm175. Jonathan Grech Cumbo, 23, from Gzira, was fined Lm150, Simon Ciantar, 40, from Zabbar, was fined Lm200 while David Grech, 29, from Zabbar, Jason Agius, 34, from Ghaxaq and Rita Degiorgio, 37, from Paola were each fined Lm300.

Paul Scicluna from the VAT Department prosecuted while Magistrate Saviour Demicoli presided over the court.
