A woman was yesterday jailed for two years suspended for three after pleading guilty to stealing a Visa credit card, forging a signature to defraud the card’s owner and to being in possession of a stolen mobile phone. Lorita Pace, 22,from Paola, pleaded guilty to stealing Maria Carmela Sammut’s card, forging her signature and to defrauding Ms Sammut of more than Lm100 in April 2005. She also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a stolen Samsung mobile phone to the detriment of Phones 4 U.
Handing down his judgement, magistrate Saviour Demicoli considered Pace’s early guilty plea, her criminal record and the fact that she cooperated with the police during their investigations. She was jailed for two years suspended for three.
Police Inspector Angelo Gafa prosecuted while Dr Peter Fenech appeared for the accused.
