From 17 to 28 May an international sculptors symposium will be held in Woerden, The Netherlands. The theme of the symposium is Sitting Art. This aim is to realise 10 works in durable material, namely dolomite limestone such that people can touch them and sit on them.

The executive director of the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts is inviting applications from interested artists by not later than 31 January so that a choice of up to three applicants will be passed on by MCCA to the selection committee.

Every participant will be given a rough block of dolomite limestone of approximately 180 x 100 x 80 centimetres in size. The work will be sculpted in a large, well ventilated building in the centre of Woerden.

The prizes are as follows: e4,000 first prize, e3,000 second prize and e2,000 third prize.

Applications by email to the executive director on [email protected] should be received by not later than Wednesday 31January at 5pm.
