Court: Guilty Of theft

A man was yesterday jailed for 18 months suspended for three years after he admitted to theft from Bulebel Industrial Estate and to hurling bottles in the direction of the police.

Joseph Zahra, 20, from Zurrieq, pleaded guilty to stealing a number of beams to the detriment of Denim Jeans Ltd on 21 October 2002. He also pleaded guilty to throwing bottles in the direction of the police and to threatening the police.

Handing down her judgement, Magistrate Audrey Demicoli said that upon examining his criminal record, the court feels that Zahra should be given another chance. She jailed him for 18 months suspended for three years.
