Following the great successes of 2005 and 2006, Gallery G is once again organising this popular event to launch new artists. They fully expect to continue to build on their existing track record and experience. As with last year, this year’s New Faces will take the form of a competition; open to all and with only one entry requirement: that the candidate must never have exhibited previously.
The main aim of New Faces is to identify new artistic talent on our islands. Our previous events proved to be a huge success and raised an unusual amount of interest among budding artists, art aficionado’s and art lovers alike. The artists-to-be are given the chance to participate in a prestigious exhibition. This is the preliminary step in a journey that every successful artist must embark upon. Art collectors will have the opportunity to acquire a work of art that they find attractive and promising, while simultaneously supporting the artist of their choice. This support is directly proportional to the level of confidence instilled in the artist and their resolve to continue developing and producing art. Call it a gamble? No! Provided you like the artwork in question it is risk-free. It’s really a win-win situation. The primary criterion for selection is potential.
Interested persons are to collect applications from Gallery G and to provide a handwritten CV together with a portfolio of between five to 10 works, a selection of sketches and other academic works which will be presented to our panel of judges for short-listing. These are to be handed in by not later than 2 February.
Gallery G is situated at No. 4, Sir Ugo Mifsud Street, Lija and is open to the public between 9am and 5pm on weekdays and 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturdays. Tel.: 2142-1984/5; email: [email protected].
