A man was yesterday jailed for 18 months, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to stealing various tools and machinery from Ghar Dalam Road in Birzebbuga between November 2005 and June 2006.

Dominic Mangion, 20, Valletta, pleaded guilty to stealing the machinery in November and December 2005 and between April and June 2006. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of stolen items. Before magistrate Saviour Demicoli, Mr Mangion pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused while Dr Franco Debono appeared for the owner of the stolen machinery.
