For the sixth time this season, since the start in October, local international FIBA basketball referee Bernard Vassallo will taste European club cup action after receiving another nomination from FIBA in the last days.

In fact, Vassallo was nominated to control the FIBA Euro Cup eighth-final play-off game 1 match in Parma, Italy between the local team, Parma, and the popular Istanbul-based side Besiktas, Turkey next Thursday.

Besiktas finished top of Group B (six straight wins) in the previous group stage whereas Parma finished runners-up (four wins and two losses) in Group F.

The two teams thus progressed to the last 32 home and away ties. Vassallo will referee this encounter, to be played in the PalaCiti in Parma, together with Slovenian official Matej Spendl whilst Marjan Hafner will be the FIBA commissioner.
