MLP Draws up plan for youths

Malta Independent Wednesday, 31 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

A Malta Labour Party plan has been drawn up to combat the fact that youngsters’ jobs in this country are being dictated by a globalised economy, said opposition leader Alfred Sant yesterday.

Dr Sant said this during a consultation fringe meeting where the MLP youth policy document was being discussed at a Sliema hotel yesterday.

Dr Sant spoke about the lack of employment opportunities and said that the policy document contains solutions to counteract such problems.

He also emphasised the point of needing stable and solid opportunities in the world of work for both youngsters and older workers.

MLP spokesman for youth Justyne Caruana listed 10 initiatives that a Labour government would introduce immediately including a youth card, guidance services, a fund for national training and a national youth centre.
