The Malta Feline Fanciers (MFF) are holding their ninth International Cat Show and Exhibition on Sunday at the Topaz Hotel, Bugibba between 9.30am and 6pm.

The cats will be judged on by two Swiss experts from the Federation Internationale Feline (FIF). The cats will be divided into different classes according to breed, colour, age and sex. Various trophies and rosettes will be awarded. Both pedigree and non-pedigree domestic cats are eligible to participate in their respective category.

Meanwhile, a pet cat show will be held on Saturday starting at 2pm. The Saturday show is purely a case of just bringing your pet cat and showing it. This will be judged by the public present who can vote for their choice. The purpose of this event is to prove that there are lots of beautiful cats on the Maltese Islands that do not always have a pedigree.

It is also an opportunity to invite youths to enjoy the hobby of cat fancying and to show off their pets. A vet will be on hand to ensure that all cats are in good health. There will be a small administration fee of Lm1.

The club is trying to encourage youngsters and there will be special prizes for the under-14 junior class. A seminar on cat care will follow this show at about 4.30pm; there will be presentations from a vet, a pet nutritionist and a groomer.

All entries for both shows will participate in a lottery for a weekend break at the Topaz Hotel which will be drawn after the presentation of awards on Sunday 4 February at about 5.30pm.
