I refer to the article by Nationalist MP Robert Arrigo, entitled Labour councils make a difference… for the worse (TMID, Friday 25 January).

I would like to clarify Mr Arrigo’s comments regarding the painting of long double yellow lines in Emanuel Galizia Street.

In a letter addressed to third parties, the Malta Transport Authority stated that the issue raised by the residents in the particular area fell under the jurisdiction of the police who advised the council to paint the said yellow lines.

If Mr Arrigo has at heart the interest of all the residents of Ta’ Xbiex, it would have been more appropriate if he first consulted the council before issuing public statements.
