Fifty-seven nominations were received yesterday by the Electoral Commission from candidates contesting the forthcoming local council elections.

A total of nine people submitted their nominations for Hamrun, eight for Mosta and seven for Paola. No nominations were received for the localities of Gharghur, Kercem, Munxar, Safi, San Lawrenz and Xaghra.

Council elections are being held in 22 localities on 10 March. The nominations close tomorrow.
