BOV Player of the month supports the Arka Foundation

Malta Independent Friday, 2 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Marsaxlokk striker Daniel Bogdanovic, presented the donation to Dun Manuel Curmi, Director of the Arka Foundation, during a visit to the Foundation’s premises in Gozo. He was accompanied by Jack Thewma, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Gozo Branch who, in turn, presented the BOV Player of the Month trophy to Mr Bogdanovic.

Through the sports pillar of its Community Programme, BOV is making a monthly donation available to a philanthropic organisation that the BOV Player of the Month chooses to support.

Congratulating the player, Mr Jack Thewma referred to BOV’s Community Programme as an important tool through which BOV is putting into practice its corporate social responsibility. “Sport constitutes one of the main pillars of community initiatives that we support,” said Mr. Thewma. “Indeed, our sponsorship of the BOV Player of the Month competition is in line with our efforts to support the development of Maltese sport and encourage athletes to strive for excellence,” he added. “We are pleased that ARKA is the first Gozitan institution to benefit from the monthly donation linked to the BOV Player of the Month competition and we hope that there will be other such occasions, in future, where Gozitan institutions benefit from this Bank of Valletta initiative,” concluded Mr Thewma.

Daniel Bogdanovic has long been hitting the headlines in recent seasons, mostly as an executioner in front of goal, apart from his ability as an assist. The four goals he netted for high-flying Marsaxlokk in three matches during November and December and others he provided for his team-mates testify to this player’s qualities.

These exploits have rightly earned him the BOV Player of the month for the last two months of 2006.
