A lotto bank receiver was yesterday robbed in Bastion Street, Senglea, the police said yesterday.

The police said that preliminary reports showed that an armed and hooded man stopped the owner of the lotto bank while he was in his car and asked him for the the bag he was carrying.

The thief, who was accompanied by another man, took hold of the bag, which contained an undisclosed sum of money and other items, and fled the scene. No one was injured in the incident.

Duty Magistrate Dr A Mizzi, who was informed about the case, appointed various experts to help in the inquiry.

Police investigations are still under way.
