Postal traffic in October-December 2006 totalled 14 million items while total telephone minutes consumed amounted to 119 million, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

Total postal traffic for the fourth quarter of 2006 amounted to around 14.0 million items of which the absolute bulk was represented by letters and other printed items.

In the same reference period, courier traffic totalled just over 63,000 of which 51 per cent were letters or documents, while the rest were parcels. Courier traffic in the period under review was 3.3 per cent more than in the previous period.

Mobile, Fixed and VOIP Usage

In the reference period, around 52.9 million minutes were consumed in mobile telephony, a 4.7 per cent decrease over the previous quarter. Of this amount over 90 per cent was consumed in local networks.
