Bank of Valletta yesterday welcomed 89 new employees, all graduates, who will be adding on to the customer service capability of BOV.

The new BOV employees are graduates in various academic areas including commerce, accountancy, business and computing, and business administration.

The new BOV employees were greeted at the BOV Centre in Sta Venera by Tonio Depasquale, CEO who was accompanied by Igino Xuereb, chief officer of operations and Noel Scerri, executive head of human resources.

Addressing the new BOV employees, Tonio Depasquale said that this was the first time that the Bank of Valletta had undertaken such a wide ranging recruitment exercise focused exclusively on graduates.

“We consider the outstanding response we received during this recruitment exercise as a vote of confidence in Bank of Valletta underlining the strong reputation and the confidence and trust that this bank enjoys,” said Mr Depasquale.

He stated that with the employment of these 89 graduates, Bank of Valletta is continuing to invest in its human resources and adding on qualified people to service its growing customer base. “Over 90 per cent of the new graduates will be deployed at the front line, at our branches and centres, directly servicing BOV’s customers,” he announced.

“We want our new, qualified employees to add value to the more than 265,000 loyal customers who keep entrusting us with managing their financial affairs. The fact that we are employing more qualified staff is a strong statement that underlines Bank of Valletta’s commitment to continue working towards our customers’ long term success, in line with our business credo – your success, our goal,” added Mr Depasquale.

BOV’s chief executive officer ended his address saying that employees are an important stakeholder for BOV with HR development constituting one of the Bank’s strategic objectives.

“By embracing the values of BOV, I am sure that you will be proud to belong to Malta’s leading financial services organization,” concluded Mr Depasquale.

The new employees will now be undertaking an intensive induction course at the bank’s Training and Development Centre following which, later on this month, they will start working at the bank’s branches and departments.
