Alternattiva Demokratika Chairman Harry Vassallo yesterday left for Brussels to attend a meeting of the Committee of the European Green Party. Dr Vassallo is a member of the executive committee. On the agenda there is the preparation of the council of 35-member transnational political party due in Berlin in March. The elected nine-member committee is also responsible for preparing a draft joint strategy for Green Parties contesting the 2009 European Parliament elections. While in Brussels, Dr Vassallo will hold meetings with Green MEPs in connection with Malta’s stance on an EU Commission proposal to regulate conflict-of-laws rules in divorce litigation as well as Malta’s stance resisting EU efforts to ban the dumping of waste at sea.
