Avventura fil-Kampanja was filmed in Italy and Greece. Marthese Tanti, the producer and presenter of this series, travelled from one area to another, experiencing life in the country while learning about the local main activity/product.
During the seven years she produced the gardening and agricultural programme Ward u Zahar, Marthese started to thoroughly research agriturism. Consequently, she started planning this new series, which took her more than two years to prepare.
The first programme was an introduction to agriturism and gave information on Castello di Brolio, well-known for its production of high quality wine. It is being followed by the cashmere goats’ farm where Dr Nora Kravis, an American veterinarian living in Italy, explains how to be successful in agriculture.
While travelling from one farmhouse to another, we will be seeing the restructuring of farmhouses on agriturism projects, giving detailed information on vineyards; grape harvesting and the production of wines; wine tourism; details on olive trees; olive-picking and production of pure olive oil; cow, pig, sheep and lamb farms; the production of cheese; herbal teas and other topics.
The series will also include a visit to the nursery where most of the local fruit trees come from, country cooking with international chef/entertainer, Seamus, who was featured on the Discovery Channel, a pheasant farm dedicated to shooters, rural development where we walk around the heart of a village which was transformed into a real tourist village, and the production of olive-oil soap in Greece.
Avventura fil-Kampanja is on One TV on Sunday at 1pm with a repetition on Saturday at 10.30am. For more information go to avventura@one
