Thurston Grixti and Ambrose Licari succeeded in whitewashing Neville Decelis and Frans Mintoff respectively after beating them 4-0. Both players hav now reached the quarter-finals of the Pro Am tournament organised by the MBSA. Two other players who joined them in the quarter-finals the past week were Simon Zammit and Jason Vassallo.

Sixteen year old Thurston Grixti (seed number 4) beat Neville Decelis 4-0 (69-26, 64-36, 65-44 and 66-29). Ambrose Licari beat Frans Mintoff 4-0 (75-16, 70-33, 76-41 and 90-13).

Simon Zammit had a tough game in beating 18-year old Shawn Agius 4-2 (21-91, 82-56, 52-67, 70-36, 68-56 and 71-42). In the last frame Zammit compiled a break of 60. Gozo champion Jason Vassallo continued to impress when he beat Jean Pierre Woods 4-1 (21-79, 60-6, 69-24, 67-7 and 72-39). A good number of Gozitan supporters came to see Vassallo playing in Bugibba.

The total prize-money for this competition is Lm500.
