Birzebbuga mayor Joseph Farrugia yesterday filed a libel suit against the editor of il-Mument.

Mr Farrugia filed the case against Victor Camilleri in connection with an article entitled Kunsill lokali ta Birzebbuga – il-gvern jghin lil-lokalità (Birzebbuga local council – the government helps the locality), published on 28 January of this year.

Mr Farrugia requested the court to declare the article to be libellous and to award up to Lm5,000 in compensation. Dr Joe Mifsud signed the writ.
