Qrendi-Attard 1-0
Mario Mifsud’s team Qrendi obtained an important win in a difficult match against Attard as they continued with their promotion challenge.
Qrendi went close early on through Tano Farrugia but they forged ahead on 17 minutes as a cross by Kurt Grima was finished off by Karl Vella Petroni.
Attard wasted a clear goal scoring opportunity through Josef Axisa and were then denied by Camilleri off a shot by Jason Borg.
At the other end Qrendi created dangerous attempts through Kevin Naudi and Tano Farrugia.
In the 52nd minute James Anastasi went close for Attard with Qrendi gradually gaining the initiative. They were twice denied by Formosa off attempts by Tano Farrugia.

Mgarr-Gharghur 3-1
Joe Grech’s team Mgarr United maintained their promotion challenge after beating Gharghur in a difficult match. Gharghur gained the initiative during the first half and after six minutes they were close through Lawrence Vella.
In the 20th minute they managed to score through Daniel Borg but there was a foul on the Mgarr custodian and the goal was disallowed.
A minute later Mgarr responded through Neil Busuttil whose shot was saved by Zammit with Gharghur wasting an easy opportunity through Lawrence Vella.
In the 45th minute Mgarr took the lead through Steve Aquilina following an error by Gharghur keeper Brian Zammit.
Mgarr were reduced to ten players in the 57th minute when Chris Scerri received a second yellow card and was sent off and to make matters worse two minutes later Gharghur made it one-all through Ludvic Bartolo.
Gharghur increased the pressure but it was Mgarr who regained the lead in the 68th minute through an excellent shot by Chris Abela.
In a counter-attack in the 81st minute Johan Said passed to Luke Muscat who made it 3-1 from close range. Late in the match Gharghur hit the post through a Lawrence Vella header.

Xghajra T-Ghaxaq 0-2
Ghaxaq moved away from the bottom places of the league standings after they defeated Xghajra in a match decided by two goals scored by their young striker Bjorn Dalli, one in each half.
Xghajra went close through efforts by Brian Magro and on another occasion Jonathan Cachia hit just wide from a good position.
In the 43rd minute in a counter-attack Ghaxaq wasted an easy opportunity through Maurice Muscat but two minutes later they took the lead through a low shot by Bjorn Dalli.
Ghaxaq played the better football after the change of ends and after going close through Alex Farrugia, they put the result beyond doubt through Bjorn Dalli’s second goal.
Xghajra reacted but it was Ghaxaq who went close on various other occasions through Dalli.
Despite Xghajra’s late pressure, Ghaxaq managed to hold on to their deserved lead.

Kirkop-Siggiewi 2-1
Kirkop United managed to beat Siggiewi in a balanced match decided by two early goals with Siggiewi going close on various occasions.
Kirkop surprised Siggiewi as they took an early lead through Alan Deidun who beat Azzopardi from a direct free-kick.
In the 9th minute Stefan Busuttil made it 2-0 from another free-kick with Siggiewi coming back through Pierre Spiteri whose shot was saved by Formosa.
On another occasion Siggiewi missed an easy opportunity through Mario Borg with Luqa hitting the post through Debattista in the 52nd minute.
A minute later Siggiewi scored through Josef Micallef and then hit the upright through a Vassallo corner-kick. In a counter-attack Kirkop missed an easy opportunity through Daniel Scicluna.

Fgura U-Pembroke 1-1
Fgura’s winning streak appeared to be coming to an end but Eric Lia thought otherwise when he managed to salvage a point for his team with an injury-time equaliser.
Fgura are now sole leaders one point ahead of Mgarr United. Fgura remained joint leaders with Mgarr United, one point ahead of Sirens. The first-half was a balanced affair with the base of the uprigt denying Pembroke from taking an early lead off a low shot by Kevin Vella.
In the 20th minute Fgura replied through Spiteri’s cross and Clint Ellul’s header was saved by Debattista. Pembroke replied through Aquilina’s shot which was well saved by Attard. Just before the interval Pembroke took the lead through Kevin Vella with Fgura reacting after the break as they went close on various occasions including a Spiteri free-kick which hit the post. Three minutes into injury time Fgura obtained the equaliser through Eric Lia.

Luqa SA-Kalkara 3-0
Mark Said proved to be the protagonist in Luqa’s merited win against Kalkara as he scored the opening two goals that made all the difference between the two teams.
This was Luqa’s fifth consecutive victory. Luqa had a great start and after five minutes a Cumbo free-kick was headed in by Mark Said to give them the lead.
In the 11th minute Kalkara were close through Stephen Calleja whose free-kick was saved by Agius and on 35 minutes Calleja just missed the target from another free-kick.
On 53 minutes Luqa put the result beyond doubt as Mark Said scored his second personal goal.
Despite Kalkara’s reaction it was Luqa who continued to create goal scoring opportunities.
Kalkara were reduced to ten players when Joe Mizzi was booked for a second time and was sent off. In the 79th minute Alessandro Pirrone made it 3-0 for Luqa following good work by Chris Penza.
