On 30 January, the locally-produced film Qerq was screened for the first time for its premiere, and on such an important day I, Louis Cuschieri, the film’s director, was not given the chance to offer a word of thanks. So I hereby wish to thank the actors and extras who all cooperated fully with me, worked hard and made many sacrifices to enable us to ensure that the film Qerq was finalised successfully.

I also wish to thank all the people forming part of the crew for their cooperation and help. They worked very hard with plenty of energy regardless of the many sacrifices they had to endure. Thank you for the patience you showed towards me, that ultimately resulted in our success.

Without any doubt, I also wish to thank all the sponsors who trusted me and those around me and invested their money by sponsoring us.

Thanks are also due to KRS Film Distributors Ltd for accepting, as a first time, to distribute our film on our behalf.

Finally, I wish to wholeheartedly thank the thousands of Maltese patrons who came to watch the film and left satisfied, praising the production. They also encouraged many others to watch the film, as in fact is actually happening.

I thank my fellow Maltese brethren for their faith in me, and all actors and crew, without whose support I could not have directed the film, nor reached such a level in doing so. Attendances are showing that the Maltese population can appreciate local cultural cinematography produced and directed by fellow Maltese. By witnessing such positive results, we continually build up confidence and hopefully again venture to produce something similar on the same high level. The Maltese population has shown us that it is fully capable of choosing wisely.
