Well Done for ‘Odds and Ends’

Malta Independent Saturday, 17 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Is this a regular column? It reads like a chiding parent, but I think it is much needed and the points raised should help to pave the road to Malta’s future.

Having travelled to Malta for the first time, and arriving with little knowledge and expectation, I unexpectedly fell in love with Malta and its heritage. I’m certainly not alone in this respect although, since my trip in October, I have been disappointed to read about the wave of crime.

For a national paper to print such words for its citizens to face up to is unique and wise.

I applaud your efforts to have a positive affect on your country – because you can is all the more reason you should. I hope other media follow your example. With few leaders (politicians, presidents...) offering leadership, someone has to step up to make a difference, and a little column like this is often all it takes.
