With no Premier League matches being played at the weekend, the major football attraction at the weekend will be the matches in connection with the U*Bet FA Trophy.

The four second round matches are to be played between today and tomorrow. In these matches, the four remaining first division teams will play against Premier League opponents.

Today at Ta’ Qali, Valletta will be facing Mqabba to be quickly followed by the clash between Mosta and Msida St Joseph.

Valletta should be considered firm favourites to beat Mqabba even if the latter are leading the first division and hoping to return to Premier League football next season.

In the match that follows, Mosta will be seeking another Premier skull after having eliminated last year’s finalists, Floriana, in the previous round.

On Sunday, both matches are being played in the morning because of the Carnival festivities.

St Patrick will be facing Pieta Hotspurs in the first match at the Hibs Ground, while in the second match, Tarxien Rainbows, also challenging for promotion, will be facing bottom placed Premier club Marsa.
