Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. yesterday was given yet another warm welcome by the people yesterday at Balluta Square and the parish church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Balluta, St Julian’s.

Mgr Cremona yesterday paid a visit to the 10th parish unit of the archdiocese comprising of the Sliema parishes of Jesus of Nazareth, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Saint Gregory and Stella Maris, and Balluta’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

At 3.45pm, the archbishop was given an affectionate welcome by the crowd that thronged in the square. The people surrounded the new bishop asking him to be blessed and to bless their children. In fact, children were central to this celebration as they sang him their welcome. Mgr Cremona, visibly happy with this warm welcome sang along with the children. Some of them were even clad in their Carnival costumes, thus adding to the festive mood of the meeting. The local scout groups also saluted Mgr Cremona.

Mgr Cremona was later escorted to Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, which was full to the brim. Prayers and reflections followed.
