Colin Tabone has been appointed to the supervisory board of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) by Malta’s Ambassador to Beijing, Karl Xuereb.

Commenting on the appointment, the ambassador saw Mr Tabone’s experience and knowledge in international business as an asset to both the EUCCC as well as to those Maltese who may be interested in doing business in China.

The EUCCC promotes European business interests in China, serves as the voice of European business interests and provides an ever-expanding business forum.

“I am sure that Malta’s representative will contribute significantly and I look forward to working with him and our constituted bodies in this respect,” said Mr Xuereb.

The Ambassador and his wife, Daniela, hosted a lunch at their residence in Beijing to mark Mr Tabone’s appointment.

The new representative was introduced to the secretary general of the EUCCC, Giorgio Magistrelli, and Fabrice Lorillion, general representative of AXA in China and fellow member of the supervisory board. Also present for the lunch were other members of the Maltese community in Beijing.

Various global companies are among the 1,090 members of the EUCCC, although these also include small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The EUCCC was set up in October 2000; it is a non-profit organisation with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu Tianjin and Shenyang.
